After moving to San Franciso I briefly continued to produce freelance content until I was hired as a contract editor for IGN, an industry leader of entertainment journalism with hundreds of thousands if not millions of daily views. Within 6 months I was hired on full-time and within 2 years I was promoted to Senior Editor. Along with editing the most important pieces of the year, I oversaw all major projects (including ones from our global teams in the UK and Australia) and led a small team of three. We syndicated dozens of videos daily, sometimes hundreds during events. I became an master of using Trello since it was the best way of monitoring the status of that many videos. I ensured each video product was up to brand standards, stepping in to fill the gaps whenever I saw an opportunity for improvement. For example, when I started, the IGN Live team was using a generic countdown template for live streams. So I whipped up a replacement that was on brand. Since IGN mostly relies on viewership, metrics were everything. By analyzing trends and KPIs, I was able to make decisions on content and workflow to reach a broader audience as well as alleviate unnecessary stress for my team. All told, I helped elevate the IGN brand to where it is today.
